Books
Self help books are perhaps the oldest and most readily accessed resource that people reach for when looking to make changes in their life. Books are readily available, time friendly, often much more affordable than one on one counselling, coaching or therapy, and they are a fantastic way to learn almost anything about anything. While I understand that traditional self help books won't be everyone's cup of tea, I do believe that books in general can be powerful for those who enjoy them, and that's why I feel that it's important to include a range of different book options in some of the support boxes.

Not every book I choose to offer will fit into the self help category, or even teach you any specific skills, but I can assure you that I choose my books carefully, and I believe that every title I stock has something unique to offer. So regardless of whether the titles on offer are fiction or non fiction, mainstream or a bit 'woo woo', or full of words or simply just art, every book will in some way be inspiring, thought provoking, informative, or simply just leave you feeling good inside.

Jewellery and Accessories
There's an official term for why I chose to include beautiful accessories you can wear, in your support box, and it was coined by Hajo Adam and Adam D. Galinsky of Northwestern University in Illinois, USA. It is Enclothed Cognition, and it describes how what you choose to wear, impacts on your psychological processes.

You've likely heard the saying "you are what you wear", and you probably know from experience that when you dress up for a formal occasion you usually feel fantastic, especially if you compare this to how you feel when you're mooching around the house in your PJs! As insignificant as your choice of clothing or accessories may seem, it has in fact been proven that what you choose to wear does have an impact on how you feel, and while you may not feel like dressing up to the nines when your mood is low, or you're struggling emotionally, putting on something beautiful can be a solid first step towards supporting yourself to move into a more balanced state of mind.

Of course you don't want to save your good mood only for the occasions when you're heading out somewhere nice, and for this reason I believe it is powerful for your state of mind, and your self confidence, to wear beautiful clothes and accessories every day - even if you don't leave the house.

Journals
Practicing gratitude is a very well known, and incredibly simple, method of improving your outlook and supporting the positive benefits of better mental health and well-being, and there are a wide array of scientific studies that back this up. People that have some form of regular gratitude practice in their life are known to experience better physical health, increased happiness, enhanced empathy, better quality sleep, improved self esteem, and a higher level of mental strength; while at the same time experiencing less depression and anxiety, less aggression, and fewer toxic emotions. So, when I considered the pros and cons of starting and maintaining a regular gratitude practice, the decision to include the simple but powerful tool of a gratitude journal in your support boxes was an easy one to make.

Self Care
The practice of self care means many things to different people, however underlying it all is the fact that the ultimate self care is doing something for yourself that makes you feel good. Of course there are many things that make you feel good, but if you're really honest with yourself you will see that, while some things help you feel good in the moment, in the long run they actually aren't constructive when you're working towards a balanced way of living and being.

So, while it's really nice to get weekly massages, enjoy a wine every night, or curl up on the couch instead of heading to the gym, when you look at the big picture these aren't always the things we actually need. From my own experience I know that the best type of self care is the things that allow me to look after myself without adding extra demands to my time, or extra guilt relating to nutrition, finances, or anything else you find a source of stress. For these reasons I have taken some time to decide exactly how to include self care in your support boxes, and I believe that the products I have sourced are all things that will add to your life and your sense of well-being, without taking anything away from anywhere else.

Essential Oils
The practice of using plant oils has been around for thousands of years, and it has been scientifically proven that these precious oils have a vast range of positive effects on your mental and physical well-being. While I don't intend for my oil blends to take the place of medication or recommendations from your doctor, I do believe they are a powerful tool to use alongside other resources and strategies on your journey to finding and maintaining balance with your own mental health and well-being.

Handmade Cards
Our inspiration for these cards is simple - there really is nothing quite like receiving a note in a beautiful handmade card. Something about it is just that extra bit special.

Branded
I am inspired to provide practical everyday items for mums that I can brand with the Mama Love Collective logo, so whenever you pick up your keys, put on your shirt, or pop something on your fridge you are reminded of Mama Love Collective. This is not for the purpose of advertising or finding new business, but simply to remind you during the most ordinary moments in your day that I’m here for you, and I have your back.

Home and Living
Everything you take in through your senses contributes to how you feel, the decisions you make, and the memories you recall. When you experience something that brings you pleasure your brain responds to this by releasing feel-good hormones, and in turn your mood will be lifted, you will feel more positive, gracious and calm, and you will generally be left in a more optimistic state of mind.

This is why it is so important that your environment (at home, at work, in your car...anywhere really) is a reflection of how you want to feel. I have embraced this way of thinking when choosing products for you, and as a result I have been able to source stunning art and accessories for your environment that will support you to feel good and find pleasure in your everyday surroundings.
